RCB Team Preview, Squad For IPL 10 | Royal Challengers Bangalore Time Table

RCB Team Preview: Then Indian Premier League is now a decade old and of all the teams that have participated in the league in its glamorous existence, the most flamboyant of them has been the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Having reached the finals thrice and finishing second best on all three occasions, this Virat Kohli led side have their work cut out this season. The job with the willow has always been achieved with utmost success, but the team’s undoing has always been their ability to fox their opponents with the ball.

The Challengers suffered a huge setback when their ace pacer Mitchell Starc decided to part ways with the Bangalore-based franchise. The team certainly has some dashes in the squad but the withdrawal of the world’s best pacer can certainly hamper their chances of taking home the coveted trophy.

The Challengers have a lavish batting line up with the likes of Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, KL Rahul and Chris Gayle forming the top 4. If the numbers are considered, between them, Kohli and De Villiers scored a mind-boggling 1660 runs in the 16 games played last year.

Kohli, who also leads India in all three formats of the game scored 973 runs (winning the orange cap) at 81.08 striking at 152.03. The numbers mentioned include 4 centuries and 7 fifties. The belligerent right hander from Delhi can use the long handle meticulously and scamper through for the quick ones and twos with measured ease. Will the Kohli juggernaut continue or will the purple patch which has been active forever see a slight dip in numbers? His form against the Aussies in the ongoing test series may create a minute disturbance in the RCB camp, but captain marvellous knows his craft to an admirable correctness and the numero-uno batsman on the planet will be the main man to watch out for.

THE SUSSEX LAD:

Tymal Mills has been in the reckoning for quite some time and his ability to exceed the 90mph barrier with consistency earned him a national cap. He was also an integral part of the Quetta Gladiators squad in the PSL, where he bagged 7 wickets with an economy of 7.50. His spell against India in the 3rd T20 against India early this year also was a guide to the scouts that he could bowl a heavy ball and an equally lethal slower delivery. His figures read 4-0-31-1, not impressive one might add, but a mark was made, a 12 crore worth mark which can prove to be masterly.

Royal Challengers Team Strengths:

RCB have always had a star studded batting line up. The batting order is undeniably the best in the league but it’s the bowling line up that Kohli and co have phrased emphasis on.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Shane Watson finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in last years list of top wicket takers. The inclusion of Tymal Mills, Aniket Choudhary, Pawan Negi and Billy Stanlake has given a fine balance to the team. Adam Milne also is an exciting prospect; Travis Head has taken the right strides and his hitting ability is known. RCB haven’t had the opportunity to lift the trophy aloft. After missing out narrowly in 2009, 2011 and 2016, Kohli will have his eye keenly fixed on the silverware. The Challengers can turn champions and Virat Kohli will surely look to add one more title to his illustrious collection.
